It rests on the shelf surface — no clamps, no hardware, no holes. You'll need about 7" of shelf depth and roughly 11" of vertical clearance to the shelf below, which is standard on an IKEA Billy or Kallax. The flame drapes down in front of the books on the shelf beneath.
